Our proposals have been assessed to establish the effect of the proposed development on the surrounding road network. It is concluded within the report that the proposed development will have a negligible impact upon the operation of the local highway network and that the development is acceptable from a traffic and transport perspective. The proposed development therefore accords with the sustainable transport planning tests set out within national and local planning policy.
A new pedestrian link will be created directly off Newhaven Road, running through the site. This will ensure that a safe environment for pedestrians is created onsite.
Secure cycle storage is proposed to be incorporated close to the store entrance, for use by staff and customers. The provision of cycle spaces will allow customers to easily replace short car trips with a bike ride, or use a bicycle as part of a longer journey by public transport.
There are several bus stops located in close proximity to the site, in particular those bus stops located on Newhaven Road. The bus services running via this route provide access throughout Gloucester as well as to surrounding areas such as Stroud. Therefore transport via bus to the site is a viable alternative to driving.
